Hi so relatively new to hand guns but sofar I have acquired a Walther ppx 9mm, tt33, colt 1911-22, and a s&w 686 357. There all nice guns but I'm left handed and getting the desire for a gun with ambi or or changeable controls. I would like a metal frame 9mm how ever my knowledge falls short on what's out there looking to keep it around 1k

Metal frame? SP-01 Shadow.
Or wait till the Shadow 2 arrives. Won't be under $1000 though!
The Shadow can be had for under $1000 used now.
Great gun. One of the best triggers around.
Similar to your 686 in SA mode.

Try the Beretta 92 and SIG 226 if you must. But in the end, if you buy only one, get the Shadow! You won't regret it.

I have fired and owned several 9mm handguns. I would also strongly suggest the CZ75 SP-01. the shadow is nice, but the standard model is excellent as well and comes with tru-glo night sights, and a nice trigger.

Lefty here loves the CZ.

I generally can't hit the slide release like I can on a 1911, nor can I on the cz85, shooting it one handed, but that's minor beans.

1911 is left friendly too, for that matter, but is an abomination in 9mm :)

I'd say a SAA is the ultimate in left handed handguns, as it was meant to be fired and manipulated in the left hand. You can find Blackhawks with 9mm cylinders, though I personally don't care for 9mm in them.
