Need help determining cal.

Hi,

I have an old (Spanish) Ruby Extra revolver. Barrel states 38 LONG CTG. I know many of these where popular in the Philippines and in South America. The literature I have read indicates that this is the model 12. It also states that they were chambered for 38 special and 38 S&W. But, I believe this pistol to be chambered in 38 Long Colt, thus the 38 LONG CRT on bbl. Could I shoot 38 special through this gun? Is it 38 S&W or 38 long colt?

Time to measure the chamber dimensions in the cylinder and post them here. That will give us a little more info to go on. - dan
