Need help establishing an age for this revolver. Not really any records or serial numbers to go by:

As far as caliber goes it's fine, but since the liege oval-with-crown proofmark started in ?1893? until around 1900 they won't confirm it's an antique without more evidence.

Yes that sucks cause theres millions of guns made after 1893 that are antique with no way to prove when exactly.
All the belgian guns i have got had the oval without a crown so made pre 1893.

your best hope (faint hope) is the crown over R which is a reproof mark. The * over L is strange because I think it might be french and refer to a type of powder. Bottom line is that it appears to have been reproofed with type L powder after 1898 and could have been made any time after the introduction of the crown over oval cartouche.

cheers mooncoon

the star over L is an inspectors mark, can be any letter of the alphabet.

the crown over R indicates rifled barrel and was introduced for handguns in 1894

Richard and Dave are good guys to deal with.

Ask if they can provide a letter of compliance with Canadian/US antique laws.
