Hey guys, I'm still fairly new to this but I've been researching as much as I can recently to put together a decent rifle for some distance shooting.
I just picked up a Bushnell Legend 5-15X40 scope, have a Savage 10FP which will be shipping out soon and now I'm down to the rings/rail.

I've heard weaver making good products and I've also read that you want the most solid/firm rail/rings made to keep the scope from moving and loosing position.

Can I buy any rail and install it on the savage? or are there specific 'savage only' rails to purchase?
Anybody have a savage 10fp? What rail/rings did you order?

Also, trying to get the best bang for the buck without getting too expensive parts :D ;)

:BTW: any feedback on the setup I'm doing? I'd like to know what others think of what I got.

Thank you

The standard Weaver base with Burris rings w/inserts will do all you could possibly want. I like the High rings as they give me a nice view without being squished onto the stock.

In time you might want to use a canted/MOA base if you do alot of LR shooting, EGW and Farrel make excellent products.

But for those that shoot out to 900yds, the first stuff will do all you want.

My rifles have Near bases, 20 and 25 MOA and both Leupold Mark 4 and TPS Rings. I have had zero issues with either. I have not used Near Rings yet but I would imagine the quality fit and finish mirrors the bases Richard provides.

Thank you for all the response's

From Frontiers recommendation I got a ring/base set with my savage on the way so we'll see how it will all work out.

Will update this thread.

Thanks again guys!
