Hey guys. I bought a Kimber pro carry II used a while back. The guy I bought it from said the gun had about 150 rounds through it and since the first time I shot it it has had troubles going fully into battery. I've heard that this can be an issue with the extractor or with the spring. The extractor does everything else perfectly so I assume the problem is with the spring especially considering how light it feels when pulling back the slide. The problem is that it has a bushingless barrel so I am afraid I will buy the wrong spring. Are all the springs the same or do I have to get a special one for the pro carry? Or do you guys think it is not a problem with the spring at all? Any advice is appreciated thanks.

I cannot comment on what you need to fix your issue but I recently was hunting an oddball spring and western gun parts came through. They do have a minimum charge of 30 bucks plus shipping so my 10 dollar spring was
50 but my gun works again.

Quote from above site
4 INCH PISTOLS
Factory recoil springs for .45 ACP are Colt Officers full-diameter 22 pounds (use Stock No. 490xx)
Factory recoil spring for 9mm are 14 Lbs - See Wolff Improved recoil spring below
Kimber Compact hammer springs are the same as Colt Officers with the factory spring rated at 23 pounds
Kimber Pro Carry hammer springs are the same as Colt Gov't with the factory spring rated at 23 pounds
Magazine springs are the same as Colt.
All other misc springs are the same as the Colt Government

troubles going fully into battery can also be a ammo related are you useing factory or reloads ?

does ammo pass the plonk test ?

It’s factory ammo. Blazer, PMC Bronze, and American eagle all seem to do it although the American eagle seems to be the best. I have not tried the plonk test though.

Edit: If I buy a spring off that site would you recommend the 22lb standard or go up a bit since I’m having troubles?

As stated above, check the chamber, but with factory ammo, usually not a problem, reloads can have issues with bulges, 9mm more so with match chambers.
A light spring for light loads should still close the slide .
