I bought a No4MK1 today and can't find the manufacturer of it for the cfc file. It has No4MK1 stamped in small letters in the usual spot on the receiver side and it has the usual England stamp on the receiver too.The year 1942 has the letter B stamped over it on the wrist and the serial number is B O4XX. On the knox form part of the receiver is GR under a crown with the letter P under it. Right beside it is another crown with the letter P stamped inside of it. The wood is stamped with the letter P just above the No4MK1 stamp on the receiver. The battle sight is the milled version. I was going to take it apart but the leather "gasket" is still over the bolt head that holds the buttstock on. I have had lots of Enfields but this one is baffling me.... Thanks in advance

I assume that is a "0" (zero) after the "B" and not an "O" (oh) as typed?

If so, BSA Guns is the only manufacturer listed in my reference material that starts with a "0" (zero) after the letter ie: "B".......

All other Enfield manufactuer's start with a number other then "0" (zero) after that.

Don't sweat it too much the CFC doesn't care too much about such details.
They will want the Make, Serial number, length or barrel, and type of action. :D

The amount of FRT numbers for Lee Enfields is humungous ... :D

They will also need to know the manufacturer, not just the fact that it's an Enfield.

Just a few British examples:

ROF(F) FRT #634
ROF(M) FRT #643
BSA FRT #639

Under these, there are a lot of sub-categories for correct registration, depending upon barrel length and other factors. The Lee-Enfield BSA entry for just the No.4 Mk1 in the CFC database has no less then 12 dash (-1 to -12) sub categories.

Let's hope it shortly becomes academic and they do away with the long arms registry. :D

Badger
