Need help, High Standard .22

Ok I've been asked to help out a friend of the family. The estate of an older gentleman has been almost settled except for one pistol, he only had one and no one in the family has a licence and they don't want to turn it in for destruction as was suggested to them by a 'helpfull' police officer :mad:

So all I know is that it's a High Standard .22 that has a magazine in the pistol grip.

No pictures yet and I have not seen it yet

Any help as to what it may be and what it might be worth

I did a search and turned up nothing
 
Original High Standard .22 pistols were very popular with serious target shooters. Well made and accurate. Worth depends, as usual, on condition and model + finding someone who knows how good they are and really wants one. Likely will sell for $250 to $450.
 
Don't let the police bully you about it. The 'Executor' of the estate has very strong legal powers to deal with the firearms and up to a year and probably more to do it. The NFA are very knowledgeable in this area so you may want to contact them and get their folder on Estates.
And even in the worse case scenerio if it has to get turned in someday.....strip all the parts of it first. Just turn in the frame. Take off the barrel, grips, sights, slide, sights, etc.
 
There were many models meeting that description. If its in good shape, its valuable. Depending on the model, it could be worth $250 to $700 dollars, roughly. There were higher end target guns that are worth more than their plain jane low end pistols. We have to know which model and year.
 
I concur with the valuations, if i remember correctly the 10-X custom is double the value, and the Victor is top value otherwise, then comes the Trophy, Tournament, Citation, Supermatic, in that order roughly, there are others such as the Olympic that fit in there somewhere as well. None but the 10-x would top $700 IMHO.
 
I sold a 10-X some years ago and have always regretted selling this fireaarm, if it is a 10X I would be interested in it if in excellent condition.
 
Make sure someone else in your family has an FAC. They can inherit, or have it appraised and sold by a dealer.

Just to say I'm looking at buying it I just want to offer a fair price. No one in their family has a RPAL, My family thats not an issue :)
 
This model is one of the lower priced ones,
no target adj. sights, non adjustable trigger.
BUT- the quality on this is the same as the more pricey ones.
and if the sights work for you,you don't need adjustables.
This looks like a 100 series- if you P.M. the serial number to me tonight
I can tell you what year it was make .
About $200.oo
 
If they want to sell it, just ask them what they would want for it.
100series is 100.oo to 400.oo for as new
101sreias is $90.oo to 350.oo in blue book

I had a model B, which is very similar to that model (only no target grips)
It was in worse shape than that and I paid $225 for it.
I recently traded it for a .22 rifle that was listed for $200. KD
