Need help- I messed up type 81

Hey guys

Type 81M. I got the sigmaco quad rail.

When I put it on - the middle fork at the front end of the rail was protruding up so I thought I would make a big brain move and trim the screw that sits below the rail and above the gas selector. It is also the screw that sits in the indents, which hold the gas selector in place. Said gas selector is moving more freely than it should now.

What I need is a recommendation for a gun smith who is is capable of taking a screw out- that has minimal / no trunk. Said gunsmith should be able to drill screw out and rethread if needed. Also be able to measure and provide screw. If someone knows the length of that screw that would be a huge help.

I have already called black box, but no firm answer yet if they can do it.

Pretty hard to understand what I mean but those with the quad rail or firearm experience might get me.

Thanks everyone.

Edit to original post: I have sold the rifle and am no longer in possession of it. I am trying to be a good seller here since it wasn’t up to buyers expectations.

Second: I assume the “screw” is a screw. It is / was threaded so I assume it was screwed into the quad rail and not super glued or something weird.

Both of us do not know the measurements of the screw and thread so it’s kind of hard to make adjustments.

Why can you not take it out? Buy a small extractor, drill a hole into the screw and take it out with the extractor. The drill bit and extractor should be smaller than the screw. Then buy a proper screw.

Use a Left handed drill bit , it will take it out.
Make a nice center punch mark first so the bit doesn't walk

I would imagine anyone that is close to you and available could do what you need if you don't have the tools or want to do what needs to be done. Your location would be required for people to make a reasonable recommendation, unless you don't mind sending your rifle across Canada for a 5 min. job.

You sold it knowing there was a problem with the gas block ?

So you sold it knowing that there is a problem and now you are asking for forgiveness? Because you want to be a good seller. Good one.
There was full transparency to the Buyer. Photos were sent and the rifle was unfired and I didn’t and adjust the gas selector so I didn’t realize. Nobody is asking for forgiveness I’m doing what is right since I didn’t realize something. Way to chime in with bunk.

Sounds like the buyer is sending it back to you for a refund and you will be dealing with the issue, that is why you are asking these questions

The buyer is aware of this thread. Him and I have been in constant communication regarding this. Trying to keep myself and the community in good standing so constructive comments would be appreciated.

The screw is just a small stainless set screw (atleast with the sigmaco quad rail I owned), it also was simply threaded in the upper handguard, and mine had no threadlocker on it and was very easy to thread in and out. It should be very easy to unthread, unless someone has put threadlocker on it (even then it shouldn't be difficult).

How far did you grind it down? Chances are there's still a small portion of the hex drive portion in the screw, you could probably just walk it out with a bit and some light pressure. Or even trying to turn it out with a small pick or something similar. Unless you cranked it down really tight.

Worst case a small LH drill bit would probably break it loose relatively easily

I agree about the screw being stainless steel. Problem is I took it right down to the wood. It is just a messed up stub now.

I’m the one bought the rifle. The rifle is good and straight. Only issue is with the sigmaco rail. Trying to resolve the problem with the seller. He is trying to make it right. He is a great guy. Need to resolve the problem no need for the hate.
