NEED HELP identifiy this shotgun

recently got this shotgun and the firing pin spring is missing, need to identify what model and such to be able to get a replacement !! hope you guys can help me out !!

is the top latch short or a longer style?

Looks like a chopper; how long is the barrel? If it is under 457mm (18") then it has been sawn into a Prohibited Firearm per the Criminal Code. Don't bother fixing it then. (This post from a couple of days ago shows how long we expect the barrel to be.)

Stevens stopped using the A&T engraving in 1916, so you're looking at a century of gun there. Have you tried any of the usual stop-gaps for springs on obsolete guns: ball point pen spring, safety pin, flat steel stock?

The barrel is cut to 18.5 so its okay and I tried ball point pen spring with no luck !

Interesting. My guess is a Stevens 94. They produced them in 1929 but the barrel seems to be shortened. The number on it makes my guess not 100%. I wish I could help you more.

ill look and try to compare, the barrel has been cut by a previous owner. I just wanna get a firing pin and spring in it so it can be used !! its gunna be a tough one to figure out I guess

doesn't look like a 94, trying to see where the pins are on the receiver and they don't match up

Stevens model 182. A quick search looks like parts will be hard to find. BUT any decent smith should be able to build or adapt parts to work. Don't see the Stevens butt plates still in tact like that one any more.

I would have it checked out by a gunsmith in case the firing pin was removed on purpose due to the gun being deemed unsafe.

From what I searched of the model 182 it is a hammerless shotgun, but this one has a hammer I will add very detailed photos this evening

Hope this helps. Your gun likely does not require a firing pin return spring. Most of this era did not have them.

I could see that being the case only reason why I think it had a spring is cause the previous owner said he took the spring out cause it was broken

Did you try shooting this gal?
I see firing pin protrusion and with the rear stock off,
the kibbles and bits seem in order.
The hammer hits the firing pin and the goodies inside the tangs
appear to be there...........unless one of those springs is weeeeee short?

Put the thing together, grab some ammo and go chewt the rascal.............?

thats what my next step was lol, previous owner said it fires but you need to "wiggle" it. hahaha i feel like the firing pin was just a little worn or something just gotta test her out !!
