While looking over some firearms yesterday i came across one that i thought was an enfield but i can`t find it in my books. Bolt had a straight handle with the an enfield bolt face thaqt screwed in, to remove the bolt you pulled it to the rear then lifted the bolt head up out of a notch on the right side of action like the #1 mark III, the rear of bolt had a round knob with the saftey oh the right side of bolt and was pushed forward and back, Not side to side as in a mauser. Rifle was sporterised and i could see no markings on the side of action where Lee enfield are marked. Two piece stock with a mag opening for an enfiled magazine. I didn`t take any pics but could go back for some if need be. I hope my description is clear enough but ask questions if you like. We were drinking whiskey but i wasn`t that far gone to imagine what i saw. There were some proof markings on the barrel similar to what i`ve seen on lee enfields but i didn`t see anything on the action, this was a nice sporter job not a bubba. Any help to finding it would be a help.

A Lee Enfield with a straight bolt handle...hmmm, what type of whiskey were you drinking again ? :D

Pictures would most certainly help in this situation as I haven't a clue what type of rifle this is.

Ya it looks like a long lee or a lee metford of one mark or another. Some pics i found appear to have a nearly straight bolt, this rifle doesn`t have a dust cover or a mag. cut off. I`ll go back and get the rifle in better light and check the right side for marks, the safety on the bolt is what looked out of place as i have looked at a lee metford and it was different. Only the british could come up with a convoluted marking system but they also spawned Lucas electronics. Some say the devil was in charge of that company.:D
