I inherited this rifle from my grandfather who was in the Blackwatch. Apparently it was in the Korean War also. Let me know if you guys and gals have any info, thanks

Looks like a M1888/90 to me. This link here should allow the OP to identify it fully (You will be able to tell based on if it has the screwed on rear sight side plates).

I would be a bit surprised if it was in the Korean War, as these were primarily used around the Balkans (Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and by WWII mostly out of war stocks of most nations) and it wouldn't have been a common round for the region and time frame (common rounds of the era and region being 6.5 Japanese, 8x57 Mauser, 30-06, 7.62x54r). That being said, these things sometimes get around, and you never know.

With that AOI stamp in the stock, it most likely saw service in Africa with the natives there.

Probably just bought from Eatons/Army navy/Sears etc in the 50s-70's sometime and got turned into a sporter.

Neat rifles, lots of history, not worth much sadly....

*EDIT* fredqc beat me to it before I finished typing...* :)

I think they actually weren't unheard of in China during the warlord era so it's not impossible for one to have ended up in Korea. Just not one with the AOI mark.
