So I'm looking all over Saskatoon for some big mag powder. Turns out an hour earlier someone bought the last 2x8lb'ers of Retumbo that Wholesale had. Curse my luck....

Anyway, what did catch my eye there was an 8lb of Accurate 8700. I've never seen that before so I get looking and the description on the bottle is that it's a large belted mag slow burner. Beauty.

Even better.... 140 bucks. I've got 4 magnums so I'm thinking right on.... Now I can shoot them cheap.... Something that's getting hard to do when you can barely get 80 loads from a lb for some of these mags.

Then I find it's discontinued in 2004.... So don't know why Wholesale had it now....

Does anyone have loads or data for
.338 Lapua
.257 Weatherby mag
.300 Weatherby Mag
.300 Winchester

????????????...... Please??? Or any info about it.

Thanks. Post it hear or message it to me. Thanks.

You bought an orphan - AA-8700 is a discontinued powder and Accurate isn't putting any effort into providing load data - they even pulled a page they had some time back with all of their AA-8700 data in one place.

There are artifacts around such as this from which you can get ideas: http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/FIREARMS/2003guide.pdf

Your best guide however is that this is a very slow powder, typically used in large magnums and the 50 BMG. Its Burn Rate is between Retumbo and H50BMG, so you'd typically find that loads could start at max Retumbo loads and stop at about starting H50BMG loads.

Andy, I know it's an "orphan" bit for its use I figure I can use it anyway. Either reduced loads or in my mags. I'm at the point where any powder I can find can be used. And I'm finding particularly in Sadkatchewan... There's no mag powder. I was just hoping for some loads to use.
