Need help me choosing first my shotgun

"If a gloss wood stock causes birds to spook the first 100 years of waterfowl hunting in North America should have been very unproductive?! Doesn't appear to have been that way though."

Take it with a grain of salt, every serious waterfowler I know here out here in the Maritimes won't allow you in there blind unless you gun is black synthetic parkerized or full camo. Personally, I prefer wood and bluing, but I don't waterfowl either.

I have to ask how many serious waterfowlers do you know? The guys I know would not have anything to say about someone bringing a blued and gloss gun to a hunt. They are far more concerned with your safe handling of a firearm, ability to shoot, remain still and calling ability. None would refuse to let a hunter they invited to join them.
The few that would say you can't hunt with your gun dress like Jeff Foiles and also use camo face paint on their yellow labs, have multiple bright calls on their lanyards and struggle to stay still.

Remington 870 get my vote. I have 3 of them. 3 1/2" is not needed but will give you an option if you actually want to use it. No way to upgrade later without buying a new gun. 3 1/2" is what I would get.
