hi folks, My step father gave me a strange shotgun, and I want to know more about it!
Here what I know:
It's a 16 ga , model Américan side snap made by C.S. Shattuck, Hatfield between 1878-1908

Is it worth something?
can you tell me more.
Thank you

Here is what I found from a quick internet search. In 1875 C.S. Shattuck and Andrew Hyde started a pistol manufacturing plant in Springfield Mass. In 1877 they moved to Hatfield where they took a Mrs. Mary Porter as a partner. They continued making pistols. Mrs. Porter left the company a couple of years later. In 1880, Shattuck bought out Andrew Hyde and continued making guns on his own. Besides pistols, he began making inexpensive shotguns in both single and double barrel. The plant burned down in 1881 but was immediately rebuilt. However, in 1909 gun manufacturing ceased. There were quite a number of these shotguns made. However, they hold pretty much no value and on a good day for one in good condition you might get $75.00 (single barrel) On a bad day or in poor condition you might get $15.00 for a wall hanger.
