Need help on choosing a target .22 handgun

Another "big gun clone" to consider along with something like the Kimber would be a CZ Kadet. A shooting buddy has one and while he's a darn good shot with ANY gun the Kadet makes him look even better.

If you're simply looking for "different" why limit yourself to a semi auto? What about a S&W 17 or K22? Or something like a Ruger Single Six or Single Ten?

Hi BCRIDER I already have three model 617's and two model 17's I also have the CZ Kadet but when you compare it to the S&W model 41 it lacks a lot. I just wanted to know if there was another really nice semi auto .22 handgun that was the same quality as the S&W model 41.

I have had most of the guns out there like the Ruger MK's, the browning buckmark's, etc. they just don't come close to the S&W model 41

Does anyone know much about the Browning Medalist and the high end Beretta's?

Thanks Graydog

It's always tough when on the web and we don't know who has what background. Clearly you've been down this road and tried out many of the usual options.

OK, let's try another direction. If the Pardini and other modern target gun options mentioned don't tickle your fancy what about an older classic target shooter like one of the very high end Hi Standards or Brownings? But not JUST the gun. If you look around long enough you'll find the gun in the transport case along with the host of accessories such as barrel weights and cleaning tools. The fancier high end ones are a delight to behold as well as shoot. And with the REALLY high end options the cases are works of art as well. A setup like that would deserve a special locked display case for storage instead of simply hiding it away in a dark safe.

If you want to upgrade from the 41 you can try the GSP or SSP (see above) both are over $2k but the 41 is retailing for $1500. Many shooters are going with Pardini these days as that seems to be the go to pistol for international competitions.

Walther is also making the SSP with an electronic trigger but I haven't tried that one.

I got addicted to .22 hand guns a while ago. Making tiny groupings is highly addictive! I started out with the usual Ruger 22/45's and Buckmarks. Still have them and always bring one along on a range trip. Even have a set of Colt Huntsman, Woodsman, Match Target. I really love the quality, fit and finish of a high quality target pistol though, so have picked up a few of these as well

Started off with some High Standards. The fit and finish is very good. Much better than the Ruger's and Buckmarks. The only downside to them is the mag's are a bit finicky. I have to constantly adjust the mag lips to make sure the .22 round is fed in at the correct angle - or it just jams. Actually ended up buying a tool for this which makes it a lot easier.

Got a couple of Browning Medalist next. Just LOVE the craftsmanship on these and the slide action is super smooth. As a bonus - there is even a dry-fire function built in so you can get in a lot of practice trigger time.

Then I got bitten by the S&W 41 bug. Just love these handguns as well. Fit and finish just slightly below the Browning Medalist, but feels rock solid and dependable. Also one of the easiest to field strip and clean.

Saw this Walther GSP on EE and couldn't resist. Great craftsmanship as well, feels very simple and Teutonic. She looks a little lonely though, so may have to get her a big sister.

For accuracy between all these guns, the biggest difference is my aged eyes. With a red dot I normally do 1/2" groups at 10 yards. With iron sights - maybe 3/4" groups if I take my time.

Graydog, when you come down to Vancouver, give me a shout and we can get in a range trip so you could try some of them out.
