hey guys,

Just got all the parts put together today for my first ar build and man am i upset.

I have a nea upper and a blue line lower (from the sale)

i tried to put them together for the last finishing touch and it wont fit!
it looks like the nea rail is in the way of the front takedown pin rings. pic below for better explanation

even after removing the rail and trying to fit just the upper on you actually need a hammer to get the pins in.

any idea on what to do? is something not up to spec?

Will the pin go all the way in without the upper in place? If it will than it's probably an out of spec upper.

If the pin won't go all the way in without the upper than the lower is out of spec.

I have a blue line lower... it has a list of issues... although, I do not consider the take down pins being tight one of them, and they are hammer tight… spikes upper...

I can only sum this up with: cheap manufacturers and thus cheap parts equal problems.

Dude, return everything if you can and source parts from Spike's, Stag, BCM, and Daniel Defense.
Site sponsors to shop through: Questar, Arms East, One Shot Tactical, Wolverine.

I know what it's like to be on a tight budget, but it's just not worth the hassle when it comes to gun parts that are suppose to fit together like lego.
You can build something for marginally more money that will be 100% reliable if you choose the right parts.
Feel free to ask us what works.

to me the lower looks to far forward... try pinning front on angle first then check your clearances at rear

hammer spring holding forward..

Can't offer much help but I'm looking at that nasty gap in the rail and thinking airsoft garbage. Talk about a crappy setup. I agree with the above mentioned statement regarding buying quality. It just doesn't pay to try and save money on stuff like this. It's like gathering up a bunch of Ford parts and trying to build a Mercedes. Gotta be prepared to pay to play.

One pin fits in but the forward one doesn't? If that's the case something is way out of spec with the machining.

The pins should wear in. I would suggest that if you can fit the lower with the handguard off and things function as they should, then it is the rail.

Can you get a pic of the upper and lower mated (and pinned)?

Make sure you put some lube on the pins too. You could also do some polishing with fine steel wool if you think it is necessary.

It's the NEA rail. Either have it milled where it butts against the lower and have it refinished or painted, or just get a new free float. I ran into this exact problem. I milled mine and painted it. Hope this helps.

i think it is the rail that is out of spec as Vduboy123 said.
my norc upper fits on this lower with extremely tight pins.
the nea upper also fits really tight without the handguard, the pins just need some hammering in and will eventually be easy to move.

i emailed nea as the rail cracked earlier today lol (brace yourselves)
im gonna ask them to maybe send a new rail that works with all lowers, not just nea.

It's not that it's out of "spec". It's just made made to NEA specs. It would'nt fit both my cheap but completely functional lowers (ati polymer and blueline) I'm assuming (because I don't have a nea upper to reference) is the radius in front of the front pin on a nea lower is smaller or cut away more than "regular" mil spec lowers. Also,I'll post some pics of the milling I did in the morning.

I think im gonna start selling off my parts and upgrading to quality parts.
Gonna start with my lower. Anyone know if the spikes lower will fit the nea upper?
