need help on gutting

Ok, heres the story.
Wife told me tonite that since I wasted 50 bucks on tags,that Ihave to go hunting till I get a deer(aww hon,do I have to? :D )
I'm going to try and get out at least 4 time a week(3 evening hunts plus sat. morn),and as a result,need help on gutting.
In case you have'nt guessed yet, I'm a uber-nube in this department.A fellow CGN here sent me a simple,step by step procedure on how to gut but due to computer problems(damn fat fingers :D ),I lost it.
If anyone here could send me some instructions on gutting,It would be very,very appriciated.

Make sure your knife is sharp, and go slowly. I had help the first couple times, and it did make a big difference.

It's sort of self explanitory once you get the cavity open. The two things I would have gotten stuck on w/o help would be to get the windpipe out quickly, and to take extra care at the "business end" of the guts so as not to get any on the meat.

I find if you can get the animal laying on a small hill w/ legs downhill it helps to keep the blood running out so you can see what you're doing better.

Don't forget a ziplock for keeping the heart/liver clean, if you eat that sort of thing...

Do not expose meat if you can avoid it, it will get grass and dirt on it for no reason. Be careful not to tear the tender strips of meat when hauling the guts out(small knife used carefully). And the urine sack , very important not to burst it inside the body cavity. Red said it all , and you can enjoy the tendor loins , liver, heart in camp or at home. (get those tender strips of meat out , they just dry up , and get trimmed too much if left in for the hanging )
Good luck all , here in N.S its 9 - 18 th Nov for me. Best chances for a nice buck with the full moon on the 15 th. Hope its clear with high pressure moving in, best bet for moving game.

And one note....go to Canadian Tire and get a Gerber Gut Hook. (If you don't already have one). They make opening the animal soooo easy and you don't damage anything.
They cost about 10 bucks!
 
second the gut hook idea. I use a Wyoming knife and so far it's opened 4 moose and 2 deer & still sharp- just like pulling on a zipper... Also make sure you have a small bright flashlight ( that attaches to your cap or forehead). they unfortunately don't always choose daylight to be avalable for gutting...
 
There are those who disagree, but I believe that as soon as possible after the animal is dead, you need to cut its throat so that it can bleed out as quickly as possible.

My dad was raised in a farm and he had to kill hundreds of pigs. He showed me that you could look at the kidneys and tell if the animal had been bled right or not.

there is no need to cut the throat to bleed out a dead animal..the heart has stopped...so need of this...in the process of gutting you cut out out the wind pipe anyways..
i believe the art ofcutting the throat was done ages ago...when you wacked an animal on the head...this just stunned it...leaving the heart pumping...hence cutting the throat...to let the blood flow out...
a dead heart wont pump blood
..any one else want to add to this?
 
In my limited experience, if you've shot the animal in the lung/heart region, almost all of the blood is inside the cavity anyway.

I do cut just below the jaw to sever the windpipe though.
