Looks great to me... maybe my #### will fall off if I miss some detail ;)

Give it a good cleaning. Hot water and some laundry detergent!

 and welcome to the M14 addiction.

What was your concern?

The areas that are milled bellow the chamber are to guide the bullet and in turn the cartridge into the chamber. If they weren't there the cartridge would jam and hold the bolt open.

I can see how you may have thought the steel was chipped or something. Im just speculating on your concerns though :)

Clean it, shoot it...love it.

:agree:
Totaly dissassembely it. Lotz of hot water and some cleaning detergent. Dry & re-lube/re-grease it. Now get some surplus & go bang, bang, bang.! Then mic the brass and see what the head space is. Post back here and the Guru's Hungry & M14Doctor can tell you the details on whats good for feeding it. Or you can choose the lazy man's way and PM M14Doctor for his accurizing & once over service package.

Just so you know what you're getting into, do a search here for the thread about the guy that put his M-14 in the dishwasher, yes it degreased it good. and yes it rusted it good.

"Simply Green" detergent is what I now recommend for degreasing/decosmolining. ECO friendly and works superbly.
Just remember... Once clean, and you are re lubing with grease, no oil or grease in gas system or bolt. Theses must be clean and dry inside at all times.
