Need Help Please

I have a Remington 7600 pump in 30/06 caibre. The owner told me that it was fired once and put away.

He said the trigger is weak. On disassembly I found the plunger is stuck down in the trigger assembly.

Anyone have this issue and how did you fix it. I've had it soaking in oil for weeks now. Any help appreciated.

So the plunger isn't moving at all? Hmm, rather than oil, you might try some PB Blaster or Kroil to free up the rust or grime or whatever is in there, and then some kind of contact cleaner, brake cleaner etc. to flush it out. A full disassembly and then a thorough cleaning and light polishing may be in order. Generally speaking, you want to keep oil out of there anyway (oil is like glue for grime), so if it's been soaking, you'll likely have to take it all apart to clean it up. You might find a burr or damaged/broken pin or spring is the culprit (unless I'm completely misunderstanding the problem).

Find a schematic and use proper names for the parts. The trigger is just a few pieces of metal that is not powered by a spring. There is more than one plunger.

Using a punch and LIGHTLY tapping it with a hammer will many times loosen a stuck plunger. You are only trying to get a bit of a bounce with the plunger between it's spring and the punch. Use oil as you are for this method. If the plunger is freed then clean the parts as needed.

In addition to trying to vibrate it loose with light taps from a light hammer on a punch, you could try holding a vbirating engraver against the plunger.

I would use lacquer thinner and a light hammer and punch tapping repeatedly hoping the thinner overcomes the dried gummy residue and the spring forces the plunger out... then clean it more with the thinner, dry it well and lightly oil it with gun oil (G96 Gun Treatment is excellent), wipe off the excess.
