I need some information on a certian rifle. The Winchester model 70 in .270 win XTR. I sthis a decent rifle in terms of quality? I know that in terms of the '94's, the pre '64 is the one to go with. Does this also apply to the model 70? This paticular one I'm looking at is from 1971. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

In '64 Winchester switched from controlled round feed to push feed. They also changed some manufacturing procedures so they could keep costs down and compete with the Remington 700. Pre '64 Model 70's are sought after, but the post 64 is still a serviceable hunting rifle if thats all you are after.
