Hi guys,

I've been offered a 1912 Ross Cadet rifle and I need to come up with a price to place an offer on it.
It is in fair to good condition, is complete and in original condition. It shoots well and is quite accurate but doesn't extract properly. The extractor slips off the rim after every shot. Buttstock is covered with cadet unit stamps and all sorts of military markings. DP is also stamped on the stock.

Seller is also offering a sporterized Model 1910 Ross. Aside from the cut wood, the metal is in good condition and the bore is at least good or better. Is $200 too much for this one?

Thanks for any input on this.

I paid $500 for a Cadet that was in quite good condition. Maybe that was a bit high, but I wanted it. I assume the M1910 you describe is actually the Military MkIII. The actions on these are stamped 1910. There was also a M10 sporting rifle with shorter barrel and different sights. Does it have full-length 30 1/2" barrel with bayonet lug on the metal nose-cap, or has the barrel been cut? Is the rear sight a screw-adjustable ladder type aperture style Does it have a top handguard. The military MkIII had the 30.5" barrrel, the nosecap with bayonet lug and the screw-adjustable rear peep sight. Many have had the barrels cut back to about 24". The front nosecap and full length barrel makes the rifle more valuable. The original nose-caps are almost unobtainable. A COMPLETE Mk III in good condition is worth upwards frolm $1000. $200 is probably about the going rate for a cut down one in decent condition. If you can attach photos, lots of people on here can give you better information.

It's the military model 1910 cut to sporter length with cut forend and original rear peep sight, no handguard or nosecap. Thanks for your input.
