I can't get the upper hand guard off my SKS. I flip the lever up but it looks like the gas tube is to long, the end of it is still under that half moon cut pin, I could try to jam a screwdriver in there and pry it out but I don't want to scar the #### out of the rifle, its one I hand picked. Has anybody everybody every hand this problem ?

When its at the 12:00 position the gas tube is still underneath that pin by a good 3 to 4 mm, its almost like they put the gas tube on first then the pin

Some need a little help with leverage. You could wrap a rag on the end of a screwdriver and pry GENTLY while wiggling the lever. Some were put in very tight.

A guy who shoots at my range has an SKS he purchased from Lever Arms and the handguard ferrule retaining mechanism is loose, causing the ferrule to separate from the wooden handguard itself. This makes it a ####en nightmare to take off. I actually couldn't get it off without damaging the rifle. Use a flashlight and make sure the angle is right on the handguard catch. Then, push the ferrule toward the wood squishing it. Might work for you if it's the same issue.

This thing looks like its going to need a LOT of help with the leverage I think. I'm going to try again tomorrow and when I do get it of I think I'll grind it down a couple mm. I've already broken off a piece of the wood with a screw driver, but I need to clean it because I shot a bunch of corrosive ammo. I'll let you guys know how I make out.

If you dont want to scar it string a shoelace or something similar through the hole and then you can carefully give it a tug, some guys use the tool that comes with it and poke it in the hole and pry up that way too
