I'm looking for an entry level precision rifle in .308... Distance will be under 800 yards..

I'm looking between those five rifles:
1. Remington 700 5r
2. Remington 700 Police
3. Savage model 10 FCP
4. Savage 10 FP-SR
5. Savage 10 Precision Carabine

I would like to know your opinion regarding those rifles....

Thanks...

More a matter of personal preference really. Any of these will probably shoot well. You should take your time, handle them all then base your decision on which one feels the best for you. Not just how it feels in different shooting positions but how well the action operates, how the trigger feels etc...

Any af these rifles will outshoot most shooters. Take your pic, they'll all get you to 800.

But...... x2 on the 5r :D

I've got a Savage 10FP LE2B, the predecessor to the 10 FCP McMillan. I like the new McMillan stock a bit better than mine but mine shoots exceptionally well out of the box (1/2 MOA and still hasn't been bedded). That said, there is a lot of good talk about the Remington 5R and I wouldn't feel bad about giving it a try either. Lots of Lego out there to add on to Remingtons should you desire, more than any other boltgun out there.

Plus, it has Milspec.:D

Of the ones you have listed I would recommend the 5R. The 700P is also very good and I actually prefer the palm swell on its stock over that on the 5R but the 26" tube on the Police makes the rifle a little less well-balanced than the 5R which has a 24" pipe.

Bought a 5R..... Pretty happy with it.... Shoot consistently under MOA at 200 yards at the first day out with out off the shelf Hornady match 165gr.....
