I'm trying to ID a Husky I purchased a few years ago from the EE as a project rifle. The barrel is 23" long, has two knurled rings roll stamped into the barrel between the rear sight and the receiver, has "Husqvarna Vapenfabrikshas A.B. Kal 9.3X62" roll stamped into the barrel between the rear sight and the barrel band, a crown stamped into the top of the receiver and I can't make out the scrolled letters below it. It has the old M98 lever bolt release and the serial number on the barrel and receiver is 90,740. All I've done to it is install a Timney trigger and Beuhler wing safety. I intended to have it drilled and tapped, hot blued and restocked but haven't got that far yet. It's in pretty good shape with an excellent bore and there's no rust or bad scrapes on the metal and is fun to shoot. I compared it to the sticky pictures but nothing looks the same. TIA

The stock is not original and looks like it came from a later large ring (98 style) Husqvarna. Wood is beech. The knurled rings are interesting and I wonder if they are concealing a join where a new barrel was sleeved onto the original barrel stub. Or it may have been made with them but I have never seen one so knurled.

Yes, the action is a "commercial" M38 (in fact, not a M96, as the M96 have a straight bolt) and the stock is from a Large Ring action.
So, basically, what you have is a M/640 (M/38) barelled action in a M/640 (M/98) stock. The M38 is a shorter action than the M98 , so somone have spent quite a bit of time to (try) to fit it to make it work...

Thanks guys. Now my question is what synthetic stock maker has something which will fit this action. If I understand it correctly I need a stock to fit a commercial M38 or Husky 640 action? Also what are the two knurled rings for? TIA.

Actually, the model designation is 640 for both the M38 and M98. Yours is actually a model 649, as some models have specific names.
The pre-'98 small ring actions used by HVA were M/94 (bent down bolt, made at Carl Gustav) and their own M38, in both "military" and "commercial" dressing.

I am not much into synthetic stocks, but what you need to look after is a "Small Ring Mauser, 92 to 96"...
There is the more common Ram-Line or the more expensive "Carbelite" series from Bell & Carlson which is pretty decent but more expensive...

I'd look at Brownells for the stock. I bought a "pre fit" wood stock from them a few years ago and it only required minor fitting to make work nicely.
