Looking for some help identifying the maker of this rifle, no obvious markings that I can find. Five digit serial number, with prefix AE. All matching numbers, including on each piece of the stock and mag. Very little signs of any wear. Excellent bore. Someone has varnished.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks John for pointing me in the right direction, I was unaware that ROF produced rifles did not include some kind of specific factory marking, other than the serial#. Always learning.

Can anyone tell me if the forearm reinforcing screw is period to original construction, or a later addition? Someone once told me that these were only added to rifles that later passed through the RIF Ishapore.

The rifle was converted to Mk. 2 pattern, and subsequently refurbished in India, assuming that the forend is original from the Mk. 2 conversion. Original markings on the left receiver wall may have disappeared during one or other of these reworks.
