Looking for some assistance on identifying a Cooey 22 that I inherited...it's in very bad shape but, the sentimental value is there for me.

Is this an Ace model? If so, which one? I see sport only on the receiver...so assuming it is an Ace Sport?? Manufacturer date range...it was in the family since the 30's I believe.

Also, what are the factory specs on these? The barrel is measuring 17 inches...did they come that length as the barrel doesn't appear to be cut down. Hopefully it isn't otherwise, I have a problem with it. OAL is legal...just a possible big issue with barrel length.

Thanks,
Rucker

Yours is a ,,,, "Sport .22 Long Rifle " model made in early 1920's .
The Ace is similar but most had no but plate , but made in similar time.
Most Aces had 17" barrels as all Canucks did.
Yours is most surely original @ 17".

Yessir old sport. Shes seen better days for sure but sentimental value who cares. I don't think the stock is original as the sports came without a buttplate. I have a mint model without the metal plate.

here ya go, and you can see why they did away with not having buttplates.thumbnail_20161001_083122[1].jpgthumbnail_20161001_083140[1].jpgthumbnail_20161001_083257[2].jpgthumbnail_20161001_083326[1].jpg

That looks like a mint rifle...except for the missing piece at the butt. Thanks for posting Clayrod...I just need to find a couple of parts now...starting with the ball on the bolt handle.
