Need Help to pic A Red Dot ?

I am thinking of using A Red Dot scope or sight I guess you would call it. I am going to be mounting it on A .223 semi auto one of the Black special 550'S I used this gun last year with A Leupold Scope for Cyotes but I dont really need A scope snice all the shots I took were under 100 Yards. I do not like the iron sights on this rifle or I would use use them. So I am wondering what the Best red dot sight is. I would like one that I could change the size and style of the crosshair. I would love any info. Cheers Andrew
 
andygumpers, you might want to mention what your budget is.
I'm using a Bushnell 4 reticle red dot on my MK3 Target HG. Works fine at pistol distances. Got it at LeBaron's for under $90 on tax free day and membership discount.
The single red dot setting is a 3MOA dot so may suit your needs if shooting out to 100yrds. The other 3 settings are pretty cool too!
 
Aimpoints run around 500-700 and can be had from several sponsors listed above. Eotech's run about the same and can be had from several sponsors above as well. Not cheap but well worth the coin.

Vortex is making a new Viper PST 1-4x that looks pretty nice. It will do double duty as a 1x red dot and a 4x rifle scope.
 
Depends on the distance you mainly want to shoot at and your budget.

I run an Aimpoint Micro H-1 on my 10.5" AR and a Vortex Razor 1-4 on my SL8.

If you're tight for cash go with a Vortex SPARC or Strikefire.

If you have a good budget you can go Aimpoint for shorter ranges or Vortex Razor or Viper PST for med to long ranges.
