need help to pretty up ipsc-matches.net

The number one reason why clubs out west don't use Omen's system, is because we don't use dedicated RO's. In BC, the model tends to be the "work half a day, shoot half a day", and the Match Directors need to organize the squadding so that they get balanced RO's on each of the ranges.

Can you imagine how bad a match would run if all the inexperienced RO's were forced to work the same time slots because that was the only schedule that would fit their choices?

The nice thing about Omens site is that the MD can move people around and easily fix the squads and work assignments as necessary. So if things aren't the way they should be the MD makes the adjustments and posts it.

Well, if the MDs need to maintain total control over who is put onto what squad then most of the point of this system does go out the window. Not all - you could still use it to advertise the squad and work assignment to everyone, like Dr. Dave does with the Triangle match for example (for different reasons, but the idea and the point is the same).

Plus, the MDs always have complete control over moving people between squads, etc, so if a problem develops, they can always address it... But I don't have anything in there yet for work assignments (beyond a free-form entry form), that'll be next on the list...

Ok, I think I'm done with the cosmetic changes for now; I added an ipsc logo (hehe, couldn't resist), and all the colors are now selectable in the profile (site background, table background, row background for closed, signed up, and waiting matches. normal open matches will show up in the table background color)...

Ohh, Canadian shooters can sign up using the ipsc canada userid/password, they don't have to use their section's password...

Great stuff, omen! You can also tweak the visible tables, so instead of

<table border="1" bgcolor = "Bisque">

use something like:

<table bgcolor="Bisque" border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0">

Also, an <hr> tag after the table header seem redundant.

By the way, I noticed that links to the club maps are gone with last changes. I wonder if you are interested to put in links to the Google maps? I can send you my club urls for Google maps if you like.

Someone at GV compiled a list of most North American IPSC clubs with coordinates for Google Maps, GPS, etc.
I can post the list here (or send to someone) - if we could link IPSC-Matches to Google Maps - I think this would be great.

Well, I figured that's something which should be on the clubs' websites, I link to those, that should be enough...

Map images were stored and served from my own host, and were part of my bandwidth traffic; re links to google, I don't want the responsibility to make sure they are correct/up to date/etc...

I think it would be a great idea, if you have all those links, to email them to all the clubs, and suggest they include them on their club websites...

This was one of those 'nice to have' features which I threw in when I was bored, but now I prefer to focus on the core functionality :)

IMHO it is easier and more convenient to get those maps right in one place then try to get them published by the clubs. The locations aren't changing, so it should not be not a big deal to get them right.

Anyways, I have the maps hooked in in my client side script if anyone is interested.
