Im having problems with the adjustments on my M700 trigger. I followed the instructions on snipercounty link and I just can't get a nice light, crisp pull.

Im finding that when I adjsut the spring tension alot of times the firing pin will just set off as I lock up the bolt.

Does screwing in the spring tension screw/ weight screw lessen the pull or make it heavier??

I don't think I should have played with the trigger engagent screw either. I can get the trigger to have no creep but can't seem to get the pull down real light. If someone can help me out that would be great or it might just be going to the smith or getting an aftermarket trigger.

If you want to respond by PM that would be good as I may have a few dumb questions:D

Cheers!!

Trigger jobs aren't for everyone. If you're having difficulty, take it in.

Normally I'd advocate playing with it and fiddling around, but given that factory remington triggers are essentially irreplaceable, I'd avoid modifying it. Maybe consider an aftermarket trigger

I followed this link, http://www.quarterbore.com/library/articles/rem700trigger.html You can safely get the trigger down to 2 1/2 to 3 lbs. after that I was getting "accidental discharges", without ammunition being present, when I moved the safety to the "fire" position or when I let the butt of the rifle strike the floor. If you want to go lighter, I suggest you take it to a gunsmith or buy an after-market trigger.

700 trigger

My lastest 700 had an unusually creepy pull. I've successfully adjusted a few of my Remingtons but this one got worse and worse. Finally had local 'smith Dennis Sorensen (Guntech) adjust it. Only cost me $30.
