I'm having some trouble installing a Dlask barrel on my 10/22. The factory barrel was a ##### to get off so, not much surprise, the Dlask barrel isn't going on very easily either. I had the receiver in a vice and tried twist/pushing the barrel on. It got half way in and then got capital S stuck. After much swearing and one trip to Canadian Tire I got it back off again.

Has anybody else encountered this? What's the best way to get this on properly? I'm not sure if this matters but it's a compact version of the 10/22 with the relatively heavy flat black factory finish. I bought the rifle new at Wholesale and the barrel new directly from Dlask.

Any input is appreciated!

Put the barrel in the freezer for 30 min, heat the receiver with a blow dryer. Once the receiver is pretty warm to the touch, remove the barrel from the freezer and promptly slide them together.

Thanks. I noticed that on the outside of the bottom of the barrel there were some rub marks in the bluing so I removed some of the heavier finish on the receiver. I oiled it up and it went together nice and snug.

I had the same problem installing a green mountain. I finally got it unstuck from being half way installed and someone on CGN suggested I use a can of compressed air upside down to freeze the crap out of it. Worked like a charm for installing it. Once I sold that barrel I bought a dlask 12.5 and it installed like a charm. Couple whacks with a rubber mallet and it seated perfectly.

Heh... that cryofit idea using an upside down can of compressed air is a good idea. Freeze Spray from an electronics shop would work pretty good too, I would imagine. I'll keep this in mind next time I have tight parts.
