I am wanting to mount a Vortex Venom red dot on my STI Sentry 1911. I determined that the dovetail cut is an LPA and I ordered and recieved an Egw mount today. The mount sais that it is for the LPA cut and the part number looks right but it will not go in. Does anybody know if there are 2 types of LPA dovetail cuts that are slightly different? I would call Egw but they are now closed till Monday. The widest section of the dovetail (bottom) on the mount measures that it will fit (. 002 narrower than the original sight), but the narrow part (top of the dovetail) is. 005 wider than that on the original sight I removed.

Thank you in advance

Newer sentrys had LPA, older ones, like older trojans, had BOMAR cut

If your elevation screw threads in the slide itself, you got bomar

It's a 1 year old gun and the elevation screw is in the dovetail. I am not capable of measuring the angle but I just found a chart on a google images search that sais STI LPA angles are 60deg. And Egw is 65 deg. I can't understand why they would do that. It makes it almost impossible to find a mount that will fit. I guess I will have to wait and call Egw on Monday. They knew what gun it was going on. Very disappointing.

In an LPA cut, the elevation screw only touches the slide, does not thread in

Great feature if you ask me, i prefer bomar to lpa cut, in your case not so much i guess

My friend had a brand new trojan 2 years ago purchased at freedom ventures, when his rear sight broke i told him to order lpa.
When i took the sight off for him i was surprised to find a newer gun in bomar
