Need help with 50BMG

I am seeking advice for a stock and optics for this 50 caliber DA upper, single shot bolt action gun. I would prefer if someone has a used stock or optics that they can sell to me at a discount as funds are tight. My long term goal is to hit a 24" steel targets at 1 mile. I'd be happy to hit a 6 inch plate at 500 yards.Thanks for looking.

I use a Magpul PRS stock on my DA50 and have added a Limbsaver slip-on over on that and it works great. A bit pricey if you're on a budget, so also consider any rigid/fixed stock including a generic A1 buttstock. I wouldn't use a folding/collapsible buttstock due to the recoil and the risk of a nasty surprise if not completely locked in place.

As for optics - I started with a Vortex Crossfire and it worked for the first year, but then the parallax got knocked out by the recoil (fixed for free under their lifetime warranty). I used a relatively cheap Millet ($500) on it for a while and it works great!

I bought my original one new from CanadaAmmo - a Gen 1 when they first came out. I then upgraded to the Gen 2 from CanadaAmmo and was fortunate that I got one of the good “first batch” uppers. There’s a thread describing some major problems with chamber finish on recent Gen2 uppers.

My Gen2 has been flawless! I also have a Steyr HS50 M1 so I have been shooting the DA50 less frequently.

I see you’re in the GTA - if you wanted to take the drive to Kingston this spring some weekend, and bring your upper, we could use my lower and optics and get some rounds downrange at the .50-rated range I belong to in Kingston. PM me if interested. I also have a .50 BMG headspace gauge.

You could also visually inspect your chamber to look for grooves, machining marks or rough spots. Problem is that this problem doesn’t appear until fire it and then can’t open the bolt.
 
I bought the magpul PRS but I have an A1 buffer tube, how does this work? Sorry for such a newbie question but the A1 tube doesnt seem to fit the PRS?
