I'm looking for suggestions or if anyone else has had this problem, or if I bought the wrong rail all together!

I purchased a TDI-Arms rail that attaches to the bottom of a carbine handgaurd and as you can see by all 3 pics, the fastening holes dont line up with the vent holes. Do I relieve the handgaurd holes, knowing they will be covered by the rail? Or is this the wrong rail? It's a STAG 3R Upper.

Thanks in advance!
Jon

Your rail is for a rifle length handguard. The holes on carbine length handguards are slightly more spaced apart than those of rifle handguards.

Edit to add:

Just for reference, I measured a few of my handguards....

Rifle handguards measure 4-3/16" across 7 holes centre to centre.
Carbine handguards measure 4-1/2" across 7 holes centre to centre.

I would not compromise the integrity of your handguards just to get the rail to fit. Get the correct rail for your carbine.

Regards.

Looks like it the wrong rail, however Id File the holes in the handguard to fit the rails fastening hole nice and tight you wont see it as the rail covers it up. Just my 2 cents

Thanks guys, looks like I'll be shopping for a proper rail.

Any suggestions on that!?

Depends on your requirements.

You would get better responses in - Black and Green Rifles

Do you want/need a free float system?
Do you have the tools & receiver blocks to disassemble the AR bbl?
