Need help with a reamer

I am going to be ordering a reamer and go / no go gauges for a 338 Lapua Ackley improved. I already have the rifle, just not happy with the chamber/ barrel or previous smith. Going to be ordering the reamer from Manson Reamers.

I have the bullet seated to where the boat tail meets the bearing surface is even with the base of the neck and then I am measuring from the top of the neck to the ogive of the bullet to get the free bore? I know that it would be a rough measurement . I am going to give Manson the OAL from base to ogive. The reamer print I got from Manson shows .150 free bore and with my Mickey Mouse measurement come up with .385. I haven't taken into account the angle cut on the reamer to the rifling either, I'm sure that will ad some as well.

1) What I need help with is figuring out the proper free bore if the above is out to lunch, able to seat the 300 Bergers.

2) What does a gunsmith prefer, a solid pilot or removable pilot?

3) Do I need to get a rough in reamer?

4) Anyone recommend a good gunsmith to take on my red headed step child project.

What's the rifle?

I recommend a fairly short throat for the ability to seat the bullet close to the lands and still fit in an extended magazine box. Often the long bullets have a 'skinny' profile that does not need a lot of material cut away.

I always prefer a removable pilot. You don't need a roughing reamer and one go gauge for the AI version is all you need.

The rifle is a Stiler action and a McMillan stock with a HS precision bottom meatless.

I will be in the same process when budget allow
I am thinking order a shorter throat reamer and a throat reamer to adjust throat depth to the specific bullet
so I could cut chambers for different bullet seating depth
is it a good idea
