Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I have a new RFB that has been acting up on me and I'm not sure what is happening or if its user error.

After about 20 rounds and a couple of failure to feed. The rifle has a loose bolt carrier and the buffer plate is crooked. Also the long spring that sits on the gas piston no longer touches it.

I have disassembled the rifle and cleaned it twice and it goes away only to come back after 20 rounds give or take. I'm not sure what to do with it anymore.

If I can't resolve it on my own I will send it back to the dealer I got it from.

Now here are some pictures and a video to help with the description.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!:D

Well, first of all, congrats on snagging the RFB. Often talked about, but seldom seen, at least in the flesh. The bad news is that there are relatively few of them in circulation, so trouble shooting info is liable to be scant. On top of that, Keltec has a reputation for letting the buyers of its products do their product testing for them. Sorry I am no help, and good luck in your quest to get a working RFB.

Lol thanks Minimouse!

I posted the same thing on KTOG forums to get a feel but i thought to ask here too.

odds are the failure to feeds are a gas plug issue, I fought with this on a buddies (that became mine for a short time) you have to dial in the gas system for every load you use, lots of good videos on it. the just of it is: you have to keep dialing the gas plug back until you get a fail to cycle, then open it back up a couple clicks. this will ensure proper gas flow for cycling, but not over gassing that beats up the rifle and rattles it apart; which is what appears to have happened to yours. when dialed in correctly it should be a smooth low recoil with no failures to feed.

if you have it dialed in and you still get issues check the spent casings, if their is a massive scratch/groove on the side, the mag is the cause, some mags need to be filed to ensure proper function of the rifle.

Lastly, sometimes the issue is casings jamming in the eject tray. make sure its lined up correctly, sometimes it need a bit of a tweak to ensure the spent casings come out clean. the spent casings should come out on first frinign or with a little forward tilt, if they get "queued up" its an issue and will cause a stoppage when the tray is full (it will eject the rounds but will prevent proper bolt lock up)

loctite is your friend, your going to find a lot of critical components come loose in the break in. Once dealt with they seldom are an issue again.
It looks like one of your guide rods is unscrewing itself, just hold the spring down and crank it back in.

Sorry it's early and I did not read your second post as I don't have the time. The crooked buffet is and issue you will need to have it sent to kel-tec. The feedjnd issue could be mag related, what mags do you use?

Thanks LordEvilPepper, I'll look into the gas plug setting and go from there. The eject tray is ok, I think, its firmly in place and doesn't give me and issues.

Rally guy, I might have to send it back but I want to fix it on my own first and if I can't its going to go back. I have DS arms, Kel-Tec and Thermold mags. The thermold mags are the only one giving me issues as the plastic rivets that block it to 5 rounds pooped out.....but the mags are so ####ty I'm no using them anymore.

Every time I turn it the whole rod turns. Those nuts that hold the spring is what I'm suppose to turn right?

hold the "nut" (spring stop) and screw the whole rod, it should come back together. just keep the pressure of the spring off it to make it easier.

Its been over a year since I last held one, but I know this was an issue on mine and it was an easy fix with locktite.

Thank you very much for the info. It seems to work I just need to get to the range now and try it out.
