Starting to narrow down build options and the parts list for my (hopefully soon to be shipped) Stag10 and I'm trying to decide on a BCG to order. I get the purpose of different finishes but beyond that, is there any functional difference between a basic Aero Precision BCG and a $700 V7 BCG?

There is no functional difference between any in-spec BCGs. They should all work just fine. A fancy one might run smoother, cleaner and for longer. Or it might not.

was kinda in same predicament, not really being much of an AR owner in the past, shopping for parts is a new adventure being an AR10.
I opted to just get the stag bolt for now. The JP and V7 stuff look real good and I get the weight saving is considerable against a standard bolt but I gotta learn more and get behind the rifle before i can drop that much coin LOL

If I were you, I would get the cheaper one if you don’t know the difference.

That's super helpful. If you know, why don't you share?

I'm wondering if there are accuracy/reliability/functional advantages to spending more money on a BCG. There seem to be a lot of options on the market but not a whole lot of information on why one is better than the next other than some finishes are easier to clean. Being 50 grams lighter then the next guy's and easier to clean isn't enough to get me to drop $700, providing a tangible functional benefit just might be.

Once you spend $800 on the V7 then you will need an adjustable gas block. Which is another $100+ on top of a normal gas block.

Honestly, you probably won't shoot it enough to justify the special coatings. If you were worried if it takes a long time to clean your BCG, you could probably buy an ultrasonic cleaner for the money you saved.

As far as accuracy, I think the difference is minimal if at all. You would be better off reloading for accuracy if you don't already.
