need help with colt carbine model 6001

I have a true collector piece, an unfired Colt model 6001 SP1 carbine 16 inch barrel in the box. This is the model with no forward assist or casing deflector. I have an idea as to its value (any feedback also appreciated in a PM) but am unsure of its exact maufacture date. I know they were made between 1977 and 1985. The first part of the serial number is:

SP184###

If anyone has any info as to its exact year of manufacture it would be greatly appreciated. I plan on putting her for sale and would like to have all the info to put in the text.

1984, I'm pretty sure, possibly late 1983. You can check with Colt's, you can buy a letter from them with all the details on date of manufacture, where it was shipped to, etc. Nice to have with the gun.
