I just order the Dlask stock adaptor for my XCR. From what I understand both commercial and military spec buffer tubes will work with the adaptor.

Could someone who has used this adaptor please provide me with a list of parts and tools that I'll need to make this work? I am going to order a Magpul CTR and I don't really care if its military or commercial spec, I am more worries about getting all the other parts correct. I am not familiar with ARs so this is a bit of a headache.

Are all carbine length buffer tubes the same? Same threads? All 6 position adjustable? Are there differences between the buffer tubes labeled as CAR-15, M4, Carbine, M15?

Do I need anything other than the castle nut?

Am I going to need a specific tool for the castle nut or is something in my toolbox going to work?

Also, if someone could please direct me to a one stop shop for all this stuff it would be great.

The adapter will accept both comercial and milspec, I would say go with a mil spec tube for more quality options on but stocks(non PTS stuff)

If you just ordered the stock adapter and sling plate from dlask then all you need is the tube and the nut. You did order the sling plate as well correct? It is a special piece. Regular sling plates dont have the proper lock pin that the dlask adapter uses.

You dont actually need a special tool for the castle nut but for the $6 form brownells its a wise investment, keeps it looking nice. Site sponsors have them as well. Questar sells the RRA ones.

Just a tip to anyone who is ordering the "DLASK M4 STOCK ADAPTER"

buy the adapter and the ambi sling plate at the same time. a regular sling plate will not work with the adapter. the dlask unit has a machined in lock tab that works in conjunction with there adapter.. I found out the hard way, lucky enough I am driving distance from Dlask. They do not make mention of this on there site.

cheers

I'm not completely familiar with the Dlask adapter, but the NEA adapater and magpul PRS made it too long for my liking. It is a very easy change over either way. Bolt from back side the receiver ( take action off by poking the hinge pin over) watch your spring and bolt don't go sliding out when you take it off. Toss the adapter in a vise and tighten with normal wrench. Toss your stock on and tighten machine screw, tighten onto receiver. As far as I know only two different size buffer tubes to match their respective stocks, com or mil grade doesn't matter. I'm now have a FAST stock which a bit better that the original or the PRS depending on what a guy uses it for.

Thanks for the replies folks, hopefully my problem has been solved thanks to a PM from factionrr. Hopefully the installation will be easy.

Just ordered a CTR from Wolverine as well. I'll try it and then decide if I need the cheek riser for the optics.

Just an "FYI", I managed to get a sling plate to work really well. I used the Tapco and put it on backwards so it fit. Works great for any sling type...
