I shoot IPSC in Quebec and I would like to be able to practice a bit more in my back yard. As we all know this will never happen with a real pistol. But I have seen ipsc airsoft guns. Does anyone have one of these? If so does any one know where I could get one? I would need the following:

Steel Gun for the weight
Blow back for the more realistic feel
Mag loader

Can anyone help me?

Sorry my friend, an airsoft gun in that description would be illegal. It would be deemed a replica.

Even if you did get one and practiced with it in your backyard, you'd be getting the same visits from the police that dragging your real gun into the backyard would.

Why not get a pellet pistol.. there are some nice ones out there with real shapes and weights, and they are not illegal. (but you do have to look into discharge bylaws as pellet guns are usually covered under those laws)

CP88 CP99, and a PPK (the PPK has blow back). there are also 1911 ones as well (Colt), and baretta 92's etc

you can check out sites like www.airgundepot to see what types are available.

Stay with dry fire in the basement is my suggestion. You'll spend less time on your belly with an MP5 pointed at your head. Better to just not have to answer the questions at all.

A .22 conversion for cheap range practice perhaps?

:runaway:... not again!!!!

If you feel like spenting $300 + for a airsoft go ahead. But lots of sporting good store sell simple replica air pistols for a fraction of the cost. Example... replica S&W M&P9 air pistol cost $40 Canadian. Or then there's the airsoft GLOCK 17 with blowback action cost about $250 plus depending on who's selling. It's up to you.

For $300 dollars that's a few extra mags or reloading suplpies or a really nice IPSC rig.

My thoughts is the only reason for going the airsoft route is because one wants to see the tagets fall or holes in the paper targets. That's cool and all but as it's been said before range time is the best and get your muscle memory use to the recoil of the caliber you are using. S**T... even when I was practicing dry firing for 2 week prior to my IPSC match I was still flinching due to the recoil of the .45auto. At least I didn't spend $300plus for something that basically did the same as dry firing.

You can practice a draw, a reload, and reaquistion from a move in the basement.

You can practice moving from a shooting position with no time lost.

If you stand over a bed or padded table you can do reloads for 20 minutes non stop.

Any time spent looking through a set of sights will be advantageous.

If you do all this at home in the basement your time at the range will be more beneficial.
