Hi,

I bought the Dillon electric case trimmer a few months ago to load .308, but am having problems. I load on a Dillon 550, and have for over twenty years, but all 9mm, .40, .45, etc. until now, so no trimming required. Here's what the brass looks like after trimming...the blade is crushing the case, rather than trimming it. When I put the bullet in to seat it, it just mangles it. As you can see the case wall is thicker after trimming, but I don't know why? I called Dillon who told me that I could have dinged the cutting blade, so I checked, and I had. However, when I changed it-it's three cutting edges, so I adjusted it to a new one- I still have the same problem so I'm stumped...

Anyone have experience with this machine that can tell me what I'm doing wrong...

Your photos are blurry, so I can't really get a good idea what's happening.

My RT1200 cuts the case mouth completely flat... and, quite sharp (like a scissors blade, a very sharp square profile). I need to chamfer the inside of the case mouth in order to be able to seat a bullet without badly scraping the bullet as it goes in. I also usually chamfer the outside too (so that it feeds easier, and doesn't have a square sharp edge to hang up on the chamber as it goes in)

I used one to process many thousands of .223Rem cases.

With a fresh blade, I found few burrs or remaining brass trimmings. Still, I tossed every case back into fresh corn cob media to remove the lube and any shavings left.

With a blade that's getting dull, there is more brass shavinds left, but they still tend to come off in the tumbler.

I trust you are using a shop vac to clear the brass trimmings?
