Hi everyone so I finished another ar15 and took it to the range today

Shoots great no malfunctions at all

But I have some deep wear in the upper where the cam pin slides
What I am asking is look at the pic and let me know if this is normal or not if it helps I am using a spikes Nicole boron BCG

Thanks for any help

Might just be something a bit out of spec, although I'm not sure if it's the bolt (cam pin) or the upper. If it's working it won't get any worse.

Interesting screws on the key.

If I can think of a way to blame NEA I'll let you know

jokes, jokes

I think it's the the BCG (cam pin) because I switched out the Valtor uppper ( pictured) with a stag upper and its doing it on the stag upper as well. And it's after only 70 rounds fired

Some wear in that spot is… ahhh… common (now that I don't want to say normal)... that is more then I have seen on other uppers, but it is common to have the cam pin rub there… there should be no issue…

That is normal and I won't worry about it. That maybe a bit much for a new rifle with low round count but eventually they all do wear at that spot.

maybe its just the picture, or the light glinting off the bolt heads cam pin, but is that a burr/ raised edge on the cam pin? you could always file a few thousandths off to reduce wear

either way, shooting the gun or a quick file will take off that slight edge, wouldnt worry about it if its not causing enough friction to stop or noticeably slow the action

the BCG is a spike's

the wear is about 2,000's of an inch deep not to crazy or anything just never seen one wear that fast.

the BCG has no burs or anything like that. that was my first check.
