you can buy duracoat kits that come with stencils and paints .. probably your best way to go, or else you could do a home job like many of us do.. using krylon or duracoat, use household items to make up a stencil/patterned shroud for painting.

i cut a honeycomb pattern out of sticky paper and then ripped shapes out of the comb for a camo pattern, looks kinda like post apocalyptic chain link ( to me :D - maybe i have an overactive imagination lol )

but yeah the world is your oyster, just whatever you do.. do testboards and a 2x4 first

any ideas on striping the finish on my 858 to paint how do i prep it i will take the 305 down to stright wood so thats not to hard but any prep ideas would help do i need to do alot to make the paint stick ?

you want to degrease the entire thing or the paint wont stick.. as far as the m305 wood... burn it .. get USGI fiberglass .. there are untold numbers of chemicals in those mystery wood stocks that come with the m305.

dunno about the 858 .. we dont get them here ( new zealand ), i imagine sand it down ?

wear gloves when u paint, so if u need to move it around u dont touch it up with your greasy paws :D - not saying your paws are any greasier than anyone elses.. just its better to keep the whole thing as clean as possible for the best finish

thats the one, its only a testboard done on some wood that i found outside, im trying it out with a bit more care again at the moment, adding in some browns/bronzy colours aswell to give it a bit more variation, wil get a better pic once thats all done,

ive also graduated to using 2pac car paint in a spray can ( no not a black "artist" put into a spray can ) since we cant get duracoat here for a reasonable price . it sticks very well and resists heat pretty nicely too.
best part is if you have the right contacts you can have it mixed in any colour your want :D
my new AK and savage 200 will be done with this paint

Hey Fenix.nz

Awsome Honeycomb paint pattern.

What did you use for the shape template? Wondering if there is any computer software one could use to make the shape pattern then transfer them to ............. ?

I assume you can't use paper as the template to paint. Was thinking a thin clear plastic sheet needs to be the template. What did you use?
