i need some help i got one problem fixed when sighting in a t.z 4\47 parker hale rear apiture on my .303 #4 mk1. i have to figure out the height i need on my fore sight. right now im stuck i had it out and had the sight turned all the way down and was hitting 5 inches high at 25 yards, goin small and work my way up. anyone have the same type of sight on their .303 and how high of a front blade do i need. dont feel like doin it the hard way if i dont have to....lol. thx in advanced for any info

If you are hitting 5 inches high at 25 yards you are close to being sighted in for 500-600 yards. The lower the front sight the higher the impact. You want to hit about 2 inches high at 25 yards to be close to sighted in for 300 yards.

Right now you are 5 inches high in 25 yards. As a ratio you are 5 inches high in 900 inches of distance.
Measure the distance between your front and rear sight. Say this is 24 inches. You need to raise your front sight 24 x 5/900 or 0.133 inches.

That is a lot. Unless you have a -0.45 sight in place and can replace it with a 0.075 you can't get the elevation you need.
You may have to build up a front sight blade (say with JB Weld) and then file it. I've done this before on other rifles with some success.
The advantage you have is an adjustable rear sight that you can "zero out" at what ever elevation you want (typically 100 yards but maybe 300 whatever). This means you don't have to have a front sight at an specific height. Your front can be a little too tall and you can still make it work.
