Need help with this casing

Weère rebuilding an WWII Italian Tank and one of the guys found a casing in it. I thought it was an 8mm Mauser casing but when we compared them it was slightly larger. The markings are "SMI 956" I'll try to post some pics later.

SMI - Società Metallurgica Italiana, Campo Tizzoro, Italy

956 is going to be the year 1956 , the 1 is not stamped .

Only example i could find is this , this example is a 303 british round .

"...WWII Italian Tank..." Which one? The M13/40 and M15/42 used 8mm Breda MGs. So did most other Italian AFV's.
