Looking for input on where I should go for my next build.

Our local club competitions are unique I think, in that we shoot the same rifle for best group and closest to center, from bench, off elbows and offhand (100m). We also have closest to center on a 75 meter "running deer (target board). Now where things fall apart for me is I have rifles that do one or the other well but not both. I'm totally open to all options here and my only real thought so far is maybe a 6br remington shooting FB bullets in something way short and moderate lightweight.

Thoughts?

you need more of a stock that works well in all the disciplines you mention rather then a rifle itself. trying to shoot a full blown bench rifle off your elbows is tough due to the stock shape, this is why you have a rifle that works well in 2 out of the 3 challenges.

You really need a precise rifle to competitive off elbows. But like you mentioned the stock has to traditional hunter style.

I've actually been competing with 7wsm barrel I bought from you, in a b&c carbalite stock...really struggling with bench lol!

6ppc with 60-70 grain bullets at 3100-3400 fps, will beat the pants off a 6br at ranges of 100 yards and under, available both as a factory chambering in certain rifles or a excellent custom chambering in any rifle, also cheaper to shoot then the br. Or you can go with the 22 ppc and learn to buck the wind

depends on your chamber, gary can set you up with a prefit that will take 220 Russian brass with no neck turning

If I was to go the ppc route, what twist, length? I'm no sbr expert and I see some odd twist rates. Must some subtleties here that I've yet to learn.

14 or 13.5 twist 3 groove, I know gary can get 14 in 3 groove, I have one...........0.527 5 shot group at 300 meters, target is still on the fridge

anything flat based from 60-70 grains, that group of mine was 68 grain ubermatch bullets, finders fee for the guy who finds me another 1000 of them.............

20 inch works, but I am running a 27 right now. the shorter the barrel the somewhat easier to tune due to less barrel whip and vibration.
16 might be a wee bit short, going to be hard to get your speed up to the sweet spot, I can load low with the longer barrel, those beside me are running 3 grains more powder then me to get to the same point

yodave I sold 1000 of the ubermatch to someone on here, perhaps it was you? I have a 1000 left haven't tried them yet, glad to hear they shoot. My rainy day supply when I switch back to PPC from the dasher. In answer to the question what caliber IF you have thoughts of shooting beyond 300m some day then the 6BR is a better choice, but 300 & shorter the 6PPC cannot be beat.

I already have rifles for long range, and longer range. I want this rifle set up perfectly for various close range tasks. As bench is only one component of the competition, I definitely don't want a dedicated bench gun. I like the thought of the br, just not doesn't seem like anyone sets them up for short range. Probably because theres a 6ppc.
