Need hunting license or WIN card for shooting gopher?

I've been shooting gopher a few times last year (on private farm in southern AB). But recently one of my friends told me I need at least a WIN card to do so. Currently I don't have either hunting license or WIN card. Just wondering if it's true or not.

No, you don't need a WIN # or license to hunt gophers in Alberta.

Well if you don't have a firearms license then you are definitely breaking the law. That said in Alberta your probably not going to have any issues with anyone killing gophers.

I would try very hard to get your friend to put some $$$ on his WIN theory.
