Need hunting mentor

I really want to get into hunting.

I live in toronto
Own a SKS
Am an avid outdoors person and camper/hiker

If anyone would be interested to take me out and teach me how to hunt i would greatly appreciate it.

What to hunt

i want to hunt whitetails, bears and wolves. However i have no illusions if need be i will start at ducks and small varmints. i dont expect to go out and crossbow a trophy buck my first time.

If you lose the SKS, you might get a few more invites. Also, you should be aware that deer and bear hunting typically require a substantial investment in time and money.
In Central Ontario, a lot of folks hunt out of established camps on private land. This is desirable compared to hunting on public access land, and safer. If you have the good fortune to be invited to a camp, then you'll have to invest some time and money to be considered for future visits.

Maybe get a cheapo 12 gauge combo gun with 2 barrels, one for slugs and one for shot. This will help you expand what you can hunt for little money.

Good advice, one of those Mossberg 2 or 3 barrel combo's and you can hunt just about anything in Ontario.

i am planning on getting a 12g shotty. also my friend has 200 acres near matheson which has lots of moose and bears. we went bushwacking there last summer and found lots of tracks and ####. no sightings though, but we were out and about during the day not around dusk or dawn, which i assume to be the best times to see animals of the hunting variety.
