Extra mags are very difficult to find and expensive when you do. DO NOT get the five round mags!! The little lips where the metal holds onto the plastic breaks off easily, ejecting the plastic base, inner spring, follower and remaining bullets onto the ground. A special long allen key came with mine and the hard case. The long end goes into the base of the stock and the stock removes easily, similarly the forend. The short end will loosen the allen bolts from the receiver the the barrel comes off easily, if you ever find another barrel for it. Very nice quick dismount rings came with the rifle making it easy to store in the hard case. The short end I'll try to get some photographs and post them, as I don't know what brand they are. When you put the scope back on, they never lose their zero.
Factory ammo is loaded light for all the old 6.5x55 military rifles out there and you could hand load for Sauers extremely solid receiver (the bolt actually cams into the back of the receiver) a lot hotter round but I've found it so accurate with the factory loads, I have't bothered to do much hand loading. Except for sighting in occasionally, one shot usually does the job on a deer or antelope.
