Looks like a lot of years of accumulated gunk on that stock. It will probably surprise you how good it cleans up. The Czechs made beautiful Mausers, every bit the equal of the Germans. Of course the machinery they used was German WW1 war reparations.

Seems like a few rare or hard to find firearms have been showing from Wolverine's Surplus Sale (eg. Romanian contract Vz 24 with intact crest). Your Vz 24 has a sling attached so you want to check it out as well - correct period slings for some firearms are collectable and even harder to find.

Looking forward to some pics.

So I found out mauser is Chinese the serial number has the p prefix !! It is dated 1937 ! I went to a friend house she Is a little old Chinese lady that at one time made guns for china she tolled me the writing on the sling was Japanese ?? Can some one tell me y !!

Possibly the Japanese captured it from the Chinese and then used it? As granite mentioned, the Japanese used many captured Chinese rifles.

Are there any Chinese or Japanese letters branded or carved into the stock?

my dad is calling it a Chiang Kai-shek rifle ???

The Chiang Kai Shek Mauser is actually different, it was a Chinese made copy of the Mauser Standard Modell rifle (precursor to the 98K), whereas this is a Czech-made VZ-24 sold to China.
