I was just wondering if anyone has some load info for 38 SC that makes major. I currently am using a 125grn JHP with 9.3 grns HS-6 but it burns very dirty, I was just wondering if there are other reliable loads out there. I am just getting back in the sport and do not remember alot of the old info so anything will help. By the way it is for a racegun but I am sure you figured that out.

Thanks in advance:)

I've used 8.6 grains of IMR 4756 behind 124 grn. jacketed BDX bullets and 9.2 grns. with 115 grn. jacketed BDXs. I used Winchester small rifle primers for both loads.
4756 fills the cases and doesn't burn too dirty.

I'm using 7.4gr of 7625 in a shorty, behing 124 MG RN and CCI Small Pistol Magnum primer about 169PF....a little on the dirty side but I'm able to shoot well above 1k before cleaning.....with still no malfunction. Still plenty of space in the case.

The clean powder I was running 3N37 VV and I run out, being unable to source reliable supply. I actually also wanted to try the 3n38....the N350 wasn't bad either but again I run out.

HS-6 and 4756 was a little too snappy compare to the 7625

You can try vv 3n37,3n38, n350 and also n105 from vv. I have the first 3 powders at home I will give you a call when I get back from Area 6.

Thanks for all the help, I do like the feel of the hs-6 but even after a couple of hundred rounds in practice the gun is so damn dirty and it leaves a so much residue behind. Do not get me wrong I enjoy taking apart my gun and cleaning but I do not always have time to do it after every time I shoot.
Plus I am the kind of person who enjoys trying new things.
